April 2024

our herb booth. We anticipate having a good selection, and we are going to try to have some varieties that will last through the hotter months. This is one of our main fundraisers, and we are hoping for a good turn-out.
Many thanks to all who volunteered to help with last month‘s Kitchen and Garden Auction, and many thanks to all who contributed auction items and all who bid so enthusiastically. We raised $948 after expenses, which was almost 50% more than last year. This will help fund some of the workshops that Bernard is planning for next fall. More news on those at a later date.
At this month‘s Business meeting the Board voted to make a grant to support the Healthy Living Summer Youth Program presented by Debra Weiss and hosted by the West Jupiter Community Group. Fifty elementary school children will learn about growing herbs and garden vegetables, making healthy snacks, and getting active outdoors.
This month Bernard has invited John Roberts, Commercial Horticulture Extension Agent, to teach us what we need to know about insects and plant diseases. This is our first time to host such a program,   so bring your pencils and your notebooks and be prepared to be informed.
Next month we will have Palmer Crippen, Horticulturist on staff with the Mounts Botanical Garden, teaching us the ins and outs of “Growing in a small space”.
See you there!
